By Randy WhiteTelecommunications company Granite Telecom filed a lawsuit on Monday against AT&s claims that it was fired for engaging in a retaliatory telephone harassment campaign targeting a female employee.
Granite is a telecommunications company that provides telecommunications services in Arizona, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
In the lawsuit filed on Monday, Granite claims that AT&ingt fired Randy White, the company’s president, for engaging “in a retaliative telephone harassment” campaign against a female employees of the company, as well as for refusing to follow the company policy against retaliatory harassment.
The lawsuit says that AT &s firing White for “conduct that is consistent with the company and its senior management” was “arbitrary, capricious, and unlawful,” according to the complaint.
White, who has been president of the telecommunications company for over 20 years, was dismissed on January 3, 2018, and then fired again on April 20, 2018 for conduct “unreasonably retaliatory against a senior employee who was in his position,” according the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.
The complaint also claims that the retaliation campaign targeted a female customer in the state of Colorado who was “a valued member of the Granite Customer Support team,” and the retaliatory conduct was “alleged to have violated the company policies regarding retaliatory actions,” according, according to a court filing.
The complaints filed by Granite and AT<,t’s subsidiary, alleges that the conduct was unlawful because it violated AT>’s anti-discrimination policy, which states that it is “inherently hostile to persons or groups on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, age difference, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other basis.”
The complaints also alleges that AT%s conduct was illegal because it “caused, contributed to, or facilitated” the retaliative conduct against the female customer.
In a statement on Monday night, AT&a said it has “always valued diversity in our workforce,” and that the company “does not tolerate discrimination in any form.”
“We have an inclusive culture, and we encourage all employees to work and live respectfully and in alignment with the values of Granite,” AT&c said in a statement.
“We also encourage all companies to have policies and procedures that protect their employees from retaliation, discrimination, and harassment.”
Granixat a telecom giant in Colorado, is the nation’s largest provider of telecommunications services, including telephone and fiber optic services.
